SACLA Users Meeting 2021

We are happy to announce the next annual SACLA Users’ Meeting that will be held on March 9–11. Due to the ongoing pandemic, we will use a “virtual-only” format for the first time.

This annual conference provides several unique opportunities for our user community: to learn about SACLA’s new capabilities, to collaborate on the latest user research, and to discuss future research opportunities. This meeting also allows the SACLA team to receive important feedback from the users on the direction and priorities for upgrades to the facility. The virtual format will allow even more SACLA users from all over the world to join the meeting.

Since launching user operations in 2012, SACLA has regularly expanded its research capabilities and opportunities for users. Two hard X-ray beamlines (BL2 & BL3) and one soft X-ray beamline (BL1) can be operated for user research simultaneously. The facility and the user community continue to work closely together to expand research capabilities by developing and upgrading experimental instruments and technologies. An overview of the completed improvements and plans for the future of the facility will be presented in the facility session along with plans to enable users to perform experiments remotely. These remote capabilities will be available for pilot experiments in 2021. Participants will also have an opportunity to learn the latest status of the ongoing projects for instrumentation developments under the SACLA Development Program 2020.

The agenda for this meeting will feature a new session called “Meet the beamline scientists” to offer opportunities for virtually meeting with the facility scientists. This session will replace the Poster Session that in previous years offered participants opportunities for in-depth discussions. Breakout sessions will allow for further discussion in selected areas covering the latest research and exploring new ideas and suggestions for future upgrades of the facility. In these sessions, users and facility scientists will consider how to promote growth in scientific outcomes while satisfying users’ requests.

Your input during these meetings is essential for supporting further progress in scientific research at SACLA.
