SACLA Users Meeting 2023

We are happy to announce that the next annual SACLA Users’ Meeting will be held on March 2 and 3, 2023. We will continue a “virtual-only” format this year after the success of the last two meetings gathering participants from all over the world.

This annual conference provides unique opportunities for our user community to learn about SACLA’s new capabilities, promote networking among the community, and discuss future research. This meeting also allows the SACLA team to receive constructive feedback from the users on the direction for upgrades to the facility.

SACLA has regularly expanded its research capabilities and opportunities for users after launching user operations in March 2012. Today, three FEL beamlines, one for the soft X-ray and two for the hard X-ray, are operational for user research simultaneously. The facility and the user community have continued to work closely together to expand research capabilities by developing and upgrading experimental instruments and technologies. In the meeting this year, the facility will present an overview of recently completed improvements and the strategic plans in the opening session followed by the session on technical updates. Facility scientists will report details on selected topics in the session to share the latest capabilities and planned upgrades in the short term. Participants will also have an opportunity to learn about the ongoing projects for instrument developments under the SACLA Basic Development Program 2022.

Four invited speakers will introduce the recent research activities using SACLA XFELs in the hard and the soft X-ray regions. We also offer valuable opportunities for scientific discussion, insight sharing, and network establishment for maximizing scientific activities as a Breakout session. In this session, users and facility scientists will consider how to promote growth in scientific outcomes at SACLA while satisfying users’ requests.

Remarkable achievements in a decade are outcomes of the close collaboration between the facility and the user community. Your input during the meeting is essential for supporting continuous progress in scientific research at SACLA.
